The CNRS opened its doors to us at the beginning of November, to discuss the drone needs of cavers in confined spaces. The event, organized by the MSK laboratory, was held in Moulis (Ariège).
On this occasion, Multinnov met with various professionals from the technical and scientific sectors. The aim of the meeting was to formalize requirements for drone data acquisition in caves and caverns, with a view to 3D volume reconstruction.
At this event, Multinnov demonstrated the capabilities of the Stereo2 in a natural environment. With its lighting capacity of 12,000 lumens, the drone was able to maneuver through the various rooms without hindrance. The advantage for researchers is that it can easily analyze cave walls without having to concentrate on piloting, all with live Full HD video feedback.
The in-cave demonstration enabled the telepilot to demonstrate the Stereo2's optical stabilization system and reduced size. The protective cage allows contact with the walls, so it can bounce back and continue the inspection.
